How the countdown works

Pick any target date (and optional time) and the calculator shows a live countdown that ticks every second — days, hours, minutes, and seconds remaining. It also breaks the span down into total weeks, business days (Monday–Friday), total hours, and an exact years-months-days figure. If the date is in the past, it counts up instead, showing how long ago it was.

Days until vs. business days until

"Total days" counts every calendar day. "Business days" skips weekends — useful for contracts, shipping estimates, and project deadlines that only move on working days. Note that business-day counts here don't remove public holidays; for holiday-aware counting use the Working Days calculator.

Why the seconds keep moving

The countdown reads your device's clock and refreshes every second, so it stays accurate as you watch. Because it uses your local time zone, a friend in another zone may see a slightly different "days" number near midnight — convert with the Time Zone Converter if you're coordinating across regions.

Click the “Christmas” button above for a live count — it measures the calendar days from today to December 25. Because it reads your device clock and ticks every second, it's always current. It also shows the countdown in hours, minutes, and seconds.
It counts the full time remaining until the exact target moment, so “total days” is the number of whole days left before the date arrives. If you set a target time it counts to that instant; if you leave time at 00:00 it counts to the very start of the target day.
Business days count only Monday through Friday between today and your target, skipping Saturdays and Sundays. It's the figure contracts and shipping estimates usually mean. This tool doesn't subtract public holidays — use the Working Days calculator if you need holiday-aware counting.
