Privacy Policy

The short version

We don't ask you for personal information ourselves. All calculations on this site run entirely in your browser — your inputs never reach our server. However, the site loads scripts from Google Analytics (page-view counts), Google AdSense (display ads), and Adsterra (additional ad network). These third parties collect data about your visit under their own privacy policies. The sections below describe what they collect, what we collect directly, and what rights you have.

What WE collect directly

• Nothing personal. No accounts, no email list, no contact forms that store anything.
• Your calculator inputs stay on your device. Times, dates, rates, breaks — the math runs in JavaScript in your browser. Nothing transmits to our server.
• One local-storage value for your preferred currency and overtime settings. Stored on your device, not sent to us.
• Standard server logs kept by our static hosting provider (URL, IP, user agent, timestamp) for security and operational purposes, as any web host does. We do not query these for marketing or profiling.

What THIRD PARTIES collect

This site loads scripts from third-party services that collect data about your visit. Under GDPR and most US state privacy laws, this counts as personal data even though we never see it directly.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to count visits and understand which calculators are most used. Google Analytics collects: your IP address, a cookie identifier, device and browser information, approximate location (from IP), language, and pages viewed. Google acts as our data processor for Analytics. See Google's privacy policy, and how Google Analytics safeguards data. You can opt out site-wide using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Google AdSense

We use AdSense to display ads. AdSense uses cookies and device identifiers to serve ads, which may be personalized based on your prior browsing across the web. Google acts as an independent data controller for AdSense data. See how Google uses data when you visit a partner's site. You can opt out of personalized ads at Google Ads Settings, at Your Online Choices (EU/UK), or YourAdChoices (US).

Adsterra

We use Adsterra as an additional advertising network. Adsterra and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads. Adsterra acts as an independent data controller for the data it collects. See Adsterra's privacy policy for details and opt-out mechanisms.

Google Fonts

We load typefaces from Google Fonts. Google sees a request from your browser (IP, user agent) when you load the site. We don't send extra information.

Cookies and similar technologies

This site uses or causes to be used:

• A first-party local-storage entry for your preferences (currency, overtime settings). No tracking.
• Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) to identify unique visits and sessions.
• Google AdSense cookies (such as __gads, __gpi, IDE) to serve and measure ads. May be used for personalization.
• Adsterra cookies set by the advertising network to deliver and measure ads.

You can clear cookies for this site via your browser settings without losing core functionality. Where required by applicable law, we ask for consent before non-essential cookies are placed.

Your rights (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and similar)

Privacy laws give you rights over data collected about you. Because we hold almost no personal data directly, most of these rights are exercised against the third parties listed above — but here they are:

If you're in the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland (GDPR / UK GDPR)

• Right of access — ask what personal data is held about you.
• Right to rectification — ask for incorrect data to be corrected.
• Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten") — ask for your data to be deleted.
• Right to restrict processing — ask that your data be held but not used.
• Right to data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
• Right to object — to processing based on legitimate interests, including for direct marketing.
• Right to withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
• Right not to be subject to automated decision-making with legal or similarly significant effects (we don't do this).
• Right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. A list is available at edpb.europa.eu.

If you're a California resident (CCPA / CPRA)

• Right to know what categories and specific pieces of personal information have been collected about you.
• Right to delete personal information collected about you, subject to legal exceptions.
• Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
• Right to opt out of sale or sharing. Because we serve personalized ads through AdSense and Adsterra, the cookie data shared with those networks for cross-context behavioral advertising may be treated as "sharing" under CPRA. To opt out, email us at contactus@calculatehours.net with subject "Do Not Sell or Share", or use the opt-out mechanisms above for Google and Adsterra, or enable Global Privacy Control (GPC) in your browser.
• Right to limit use of sensitive personal information (we don't intentionally collect any).
• Right to non-discrimination — we won't deny service or charge differently because you exercised a privacy right.
• Right to authorize an agent to make requests on your behalf.

Other jurisdictions

If you're in another US state with a comprehensive privacy law (Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, and others), in Brazil (LGPD), Canada (PIPEDA), Australia, or anywhere else with similar legislation, equivalent rights generally apply. Contact us and we'll handle your request consistent with applicable law.

How to exercise your rights

• For data held by us directly (almost nothing): email contactus@calculatehours.net. We'll respond within 30 days. We may ask you to verify your identity to prevent fraudulent requests.
• For data held by Google (Analytics, AdSense, Fonts): use your Google account privacy controls, or opt out of personalized ads at Google Ads Settings.
• For data held by Adsterra: see Adsterra's privacy policy for their contact and opt-out details.
• To opt out of cookies on this site: use your browser's cookie controls to delete cookies for calculatehours.net and the third-party domains listed above, or install a tracking-blocker browser extension.

Legal bases for processing (GDPR Article 6)

• Consent — for non-essential cookies (Google Analytics, AdSense, Adsterra). You may withdraw consent at any time.
• Legitimate interests — for keeping the site online and secure (server logs, basic anti-abuse measures), where those interests don't override your rights and freedoms.

Data retention

• Hosting server logs: typically 30–90 days, then deleted by the host.
• Google Analytics: per Google's policy. We use a 14-month retention window.
• Google AdSense / Adsterra: per their respective policies, which we don't control.
• Email correspondence: retained only as long as needed to handle your question.

International transfers

Google and Adsterra operate globally. Personal data collected by them may be transferred to and stored in the United States and other jurisdictions. Those transfers are governed by the third parties' own safeguards (such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, Standard Contractual Clauses, or equivalent mechanisms). Children

This site is not directed at children under 16. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy materially, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the site after a change indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
